If you have weeds, brown grass, or just need a general fertilizer, Forrest Lytle is your one-stop-shop for all your lawn fertilization needs.
Don’t call a weed control company or fight the crowds at the big box stores, come into Forrest Lytle and talk with one of our experts on what your yard needs to look like those in a magazine.
Many of our fertilizers are granular and can be put down with a hand or push spreader. From starter fertilizers, 10-20-20, to weed and feed fertilizers, 19-0-6 w/ LockUp, to a high nitrogen fertilizer, 32-0-6, acidic fertilizer, or just a well balanced fertilizer, 12-12-12, we have the desired fertilizer you’re looking for.
Liquid fertilizer and herbicides are also available.
Our fertilizer is all commercial grade and is named by the three numbers noted on the bag. The first number is the amount of nitrogen (N), the second number is the amount of phosphate (P2O5) and the third number is the amount of potash (K2O). These three numbers represent the primary nutrients found in all fertilizers
We offer a five-step fertilizer program recommended to use on all lawns in the tri-state area. This is a guide to go by so be sure to check with us for more detailed information. We will be happy to work with you to setup a customized fertilizer plan for your particular lawn. Just call us or stop in the shop for more information.
Early Spring: Preemergence application to control weeds and crabgrass
Spring: Weed and Feed Application to fertilize the lawn and control broadleaf weeds
Early Summer: Feed and insecticide application
Early Fall: Feeding application. This is also a good time for a herbicide application as well.
Late Fall: Winter Feed Application *This is the most important application*
Pre and post-emergence are chemicals that are designed to either kill, post-emergence, or prevent, pre-emergence, broadleaf weeds found in lawns and beds. We carry pre-emergence such as Treflan and SnapShot that can be used in beds or lawns that prevent weeds. NOTE: These can not be applied when seeding because it will not allow the seed to germinate. A post-emergence would be a product such as 19-0-6 with LockUp: the LockUp is the post-emergence. Liquid post-emergence include a product called Surge and CrossRoads. Both products are able to be sprayed in yards with established grass.
Forrest Lytle also carries a full selection of tree fertilizers. We have tree injectable fertilizers and insecticides from the J.J. Mauget, Company. If you are looking for granular fertilizers, we have those as well:
Spring: High Nitrogen fertilizer to promote spring growth
Mid/Late Spring: Season long insect control
Fall: Higher phosphate and potash to help promote root growth for the winter
As always, our knowledgeable staff would be happy to assist you in any fertilization needs and help you setup a customized plan to ensure your trees and lawn get the fertilizer they need.
